WHAT GOES AROUND, COMES AROUND! Introducing the Optimum in Hydrocarbon Dry-cleaning Evolution.

Petroleum is not new to dry-cleaning. In fact, petroleum was among the first widely used solvents. The solvent of choice as far back as the early 1900's, petroleum reached its height in the 1950's. While its superb capabilities were well received, especially in cleaning of difficult and specialized materials, petroleum dry-cleaning had major drawbacks ... both in chemical properties of the original formulated solvent and the limited 20th Century technology in,the manufacture of dry-cleaning machines.

WELCOME TO THE 21st CENTURY! Air pollution. Water pollution. Soil contamination. Human exposure to carcinogens. Increased costs of utilities, solvents, water and waste-sludge disposal. More and more government restrictions in the use of perchlorethelene and R-113 solvents. Even wet- cleaning can't handle expensive fabrics and adds to waste-water pollution. What's the solution? WELCOME TO THE NEW UNION HYDRO-C!

Union engineers have worked more than 5 years researching and developing a machine that would effectively utilize a safer hydrocarbon solvent. Now these safer, higher f lash-point solvents are a reality. The result is HYDRO-C. The optimum solution in hydrocarbon dry-cleaning.

UNION HYDRO-C BENEFITS MORE DRYCLEANERS MORE WAYS! Start with a safer, securer cleaning solvent. No harmful odors, waste-water or sludge to deal with. HYDRO-C technology, combined with the new synthetically made hydrocarbon solvent, meets or exceeds all EPA, OSHA, NESHAP and local requirements. The new hydrocarbon solvents retain the best benefits of the old "Stodgy Stoddard" petroleum solvents ... excellent cleaning and low residue while increasing flash-point safety, lowering drying time and improving solvent stability. Then enter Union HYDRO-C... most affordable to own, easiest to maintain and simplest to operate.

HYDRO-C incorporates the latest in microprocessor technology. Our new Computer 48 controls and monitors every aspect of machine operation so special operator training is not required. Offering an unlimited variety of programs for all types of textiles, HYDRO-C with Computer 48 is especially suited to process problem materials such as man-made fibers, suedes, leathers, plastic, silks and satins.

Pure filtration is the result of Union's famous Ecological Spin Disc teamed with high-density small cartridge carbon filters.

HYDRO-C advanced technology provides continuous distillation of hydrocarbon solvent. Lower operating temperatures mean no heat-set stains or creases even in the most delicate fabrics.

HOW UNION HYDRO-C SYSTEMS WORK Union Hydro-C Systems are designed to work with hydrocarbon solvents. These new solvents have been modified and have a higher flash point of 132F-56C making them exceptionally safe. In addition, all Union Hydro-C Systems are equipped with advanced safety devices which are required by the European Community Standards.

1. Washing cycle: Solvent is pumped into the basket over the ecological disc filter then into a heat exchanger which keeps the solvent at a steady 77F-25C temperature.

2. Extraction and drain to still holding tank: During the wash and extract cycle, the basket as well as the tanks maintain atmospheric pressure.

3. Drying cycle: Prior to inducing the drying cycle, the vacuum pump extracts air from the basket. Air is then released to the atmosphere via the solvent tanks. During this cycle the fan motor is activated and heat is induced as soon as the vacuum of 550mb is reached. The pump continues to extract air until 350mb is achieved and maintained.

4. Cooling cycle: During this cycle all sources producing heat are automatically turned off and the cooling cycle begins.

5. Distillation: Solvent is transferred to a still holding tank then discharged into the still in small quantities. A float switch, which has a minimum and maximum level, controls the amount of solvent discharged into the still. The holding tank separates the water from the solvent. Water settling on the bottom of the tank is controlled by an electronic probe. Solvent will only be discharged into the still after complete distillation. Should a malfunction occur, visual and acoustic signals will alert the operator.

6. Still vacuum: A vacuum pump extracts air from the still in the same manner as it extracts air from the basket and holding tanks. While the degree of vacuum inside may vary, the still heating system will only start if a vacuum of 200mb has been reached. The still door can only be opened when the still temperature is below 40C and the safety door switch is activated. All heating sources for drying and distillation will only function when these vacuum conditions have been achieved. If there is a lack of water, air, steam or a presence of high temperature in the system, the HYDRO-C will automatically turn off and an alarm light on the front of the machine will notify the operator.
